FAQ: Is it easy to store? The grill looks large. I have a small car.

Answer: Each leg of the Big Papa breaks down into three 3 sections. The longest section is 42 inches long., so it can be easily transported in a truck bed, a trunk, SUV or a camper storage area.

FAQ: How easy is this grill to set up?

Answer: Super easy and there are no tools required! Still, we always recommend at least two people set it up. Start by snapping the tubular legs together. Put the grill chain through the pulley and attach it to the one on the other side. Then, stand it up and pull the chain until the grill is at the proper height. Read the instructions and watch the assembly video for more details on proper set up.

FAQ: Can this grill be left outside?

Answer: Yes, but not permanently. We typically leave ours out for a week or weekend long camping trip. Weather will eventually take its toll, so we recommend only leaving the grill out for a couple days at a time. Always remember to clean and oil your grill before you store it.

FAQ: Where is this grill made?

Answer: Proudly made in the USA.

FAQ: Is this grill stable when cooking with cast iron pans?

Answer: Yes, its the best. Even when stirring or flipping, the heavy pans stand still. No more chasing your food around the campfire.

FAQ: How much weight does this grill hold?

Answer: Plenty! During our biggest feasts, we’ve cooked with multiple cast iron pots and pans simultaneously. In addition, we loaded up the remainder of the grill with ears of corn. We’re sure you can cook anything you desire, but we recommend that you don’t overload it. Keep it under 50 pounds.

FAQ: Is it easy to raise and lower the grill to adjust the heat?

Answer: Simple as simple gets. Once assembled, just pull the main chain to the proper height. If needed, adjust the side tension chains to make it more stable.

FAQ: How long will this grill last?

Answer: Well, we built our first over 10-years ago and it is still going strong. Remember, metal does rust so maintain it regularly and store it when not in use.

FAQ: How tall is the grill when set up?

Answer: Almost 9.5-ft! This gives you enough height to raise the grill for a bonfire. Don’t let the flames get to close to the grill. We rcccomend keeping flames at least 13” from the grill. (Any fire to be made should be done in the firepit, not on the grill).

FAQ: How much area does the grill take up when set up?

Answer: When set up, the legs are just over 5-ft apart. We’ve never encountered an area that the grill would not fit over, at home or camping.

FAQ: Do I need tools to disassemble?

Answer: NO TOOLS REQUIRED. Simply remove the chain and detach the grate. Then, use your thumb to press in the lock buttons on the legs and separate into 4-ft sections.

FAQ: Is any maintenance to the grill to keep it new longer?

Answer: Yes! Like any grill, some maintenance and cleaning is always required. A light cleaning with a wire brush is always welcome. Some times, renew with vegetable oil (a rust preventative) to really make it shine.

FAQ: What is the total weight of the grill?

Answer: 45 Lbs. The leg assembly is approximately 25 lbs. The 30-inch diameter grate, including the chains, is about 20lbs.

FAQ: Do you have assembly instructions?

Answer: We provide a written copy of assembly and disassembly instructions for those campers on the go. If you’re in an area with cellular service, just pull up the videos on our website to watch the step-by-step instructions.

FAQ: The grill looks tall and heavy. Will it fall over?

Answer: Not if set up properly. The upper welded mechanism locks the legs into a fully open position. When set up, the legs cannot be kicked out like other grills. Just be careful when setting up and taking down. We highly recommend using two people set up and disassembly of the grill.
